Former NBA star Kevin Garnett has said the NBA’s Renovo Stadium renovation could cost as much as $400 million, but he’s not ruling out another renovation costing more than $500 million.
Garnett, a longtime owner of the Houston Rockets, said on Monday that he’d be willing to invest another $500-600 million for a new arena in Houston, but that the renovation was the only thing keeping the team in town.
Renovos, which has operated the facility since 1985, announced its bankruptcy in August and has been forced to shut down its entire operation.
The NBA had previously said that it would reopen the facility in 2020.
